The principles of Kwanzaa provide a healthy and balanced way for people of African descent to stay focused on values that enrich us.  We can eliminate faulty ways of thinking that create unnecessary dependencies in our lives. Instead of waiting for parents to provide gifts that we sometimes cannot afford, children learn to create items that show their appreciation for their loved ones.
